Friends and Family,

I am leading a team for the MSPCA Walk for Animals this summer for the third consecutive year.  This is a wonderful event and we have a great time every year.  Please sign up to join Team Murtha in an easy one-mile walk around Boston Common or else please donate to support me.

This cause is important to me because it gave us Hank, my beloved and ornery old Maine Coon.  This year, we added Norman, my husband's new best friend and stalker, to the MacLellan clan.  Norman charms pretty much everyone who comes by (including alleged cat-haters) with his loving and friendly personality and his propensity to flip over on his back when he's happy.  

The MSPCA not only saves the lives of thousands of animals each year, but it makes people's lives easier by, among many other things, subsidizing spay and neuter programs, enabling low-income families to keep their family pet.  Importantly to me, the MSPCA has been instrumental in publicizing the link between domestic violence and animal abuse.  Its legislative action arm sponsors and promotes bills that improve the lives of animals in this state, including the Greyhound Protection Act and bills increasing penalties for those who perpetrate animal fighting, such as dogfighting and cockfighting.  Please join me in supporting the MSPCA's efforts.
