Spinning to keep animals safe during this pandemic!
I'm sure I sound like a broken record when I say that this year has been an incredible challenge. This has been such a rollercoaster of stress for everyone, including animals. As scary as this time has been, it has also been an important reminder of how important the work we do is to our community. I feel very lucky to work with such a dynamic group of individuals that when the world gets scary, they bravely step forward to be sure that animals and people are cared for and protected. I want to share with you some of the key things our team has done in 2020 to help animals:
- Keeping animals from going hungry during this pandemic: Our community outreach teams have delivered over 1 million pet meals to food pantries and isolated individuals. Additionally our equine outreach team has created a safety net program to provide grain and hay to equine owners that may be struggling
- Keeping animals safe, healthy and together with their families. Our veterinary services team transformed our three adoption centers into community clinics, providing low cost veterinary care for qualifying low income families to ensure that people of all income levels would have the opportunity for their pet to receive medical care
- Increased opportunities for animals to be adopted: Our adoption team created an affiliation with Northeast Animal Shelter to help even more animals by transporting animals from overcrowded shelters in the southeast into our adoption centers to find new, loving homes
These are just a few of the things we have done during this pandemic, and we want to be there for animals and people for the challenging months/years ahead. That is why I am spinning this year and hope that you consider donating to this super important endeavor.
