The Foster Program Needs Your Help!
For this year's Fast & Furriest 5k, I will be participating in honor of the MSPCA's Foster Program and also in memory of my cat Hector. Being the foster coordinator means I get to see first hand all of the animals that benefit from being in foster, and how much of an impact it makes on them before they go on to find their new families. Without our amazing team of dedicated and compassionate volunteers, and people like you, we would not be able to help the hundreds of animals that come through our doors needing help each year.
I first met my cat Hector when he arrived at the shelter as a surrender due to an injury on his foot. It was later determined that he had a wound of unknown origin which was potentially a bite from another animal, and required that he be quarantined for 4 months along with veterinary care to repair his wound. During his time in quarantine, I would go out of my way to visit him and spend time making him feel more at home and comfortable. After he was finished, he went up for adoption but came down with an upper respiratory infection so I took him home as a foster. After having him at my home, I realized I was going to become a "foster failure" and decided to adopt him. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly after only living with me for a year, but he was truly the best cat and loved everyone he met. Your donation can help cats and other animals like Hector get the medical attention and care they need before finding new loving homes.
Most animals coming to our shelter require medical care before being adopted, ranging from routine spay/neuter or grooming, to complicated surgeries or treatment for chronic conditions. The MSPCA is a nonprofit organization that is funded 100% through the support and contributions of animal lovers like you who want to make a difference. The Fast and Furriest 5k is our biggest fundraiser of the year and even a small donation goes a long way towards helping animals in need! Funds raised for this event help support the thousands of animals the MSPCA cares for each year in our shelters and foster programs, along with animals that come to us for low cost spay/neuter services, vaccine clinics, low cost microchips, affordable euthanasia services, and our many other community programs. Please consider making a contribution to my fund raising page! Thank you in advance for your support! :)
