Trust us – she’s even cuter in person! Muffin is an older pony mare who is looking for a companion-only home with her best friend Buggsy.
Muffin was a bit shy and avoidant of touch when we first met her, but she has fallen into a great rhythm with us and is now easy to halter in her stall, lead to her paddock, and catch for turn in. She is an easy keeper and seems quite hardy and healthy! Muffin does well living out 24/7 and stalling overnight with day time turn out. She is super flexible!
We wouldn’t go so far as to say she is a kid-safe pony yet, but it is possible she could get there with some time and patience. She has been straightforward for us to work with and hasn’t offered a bite, kick, or rear. She does require an experienced handler for vet care, but has also improved greatly for this type of handling in the time we’ve had her. She stands well for the farrier and tolerates grooming – we think she’ll enjoy it one day when she finds a family who will dote on her!
Meet Artie! This handsome fella came to us from a home without much history known. He can take a little time to warm up and would likely do best in a quieter home. He lived with many other cats and would likely do well living with other cats!
If you’re interested in adopting a cat, stop by Tues-Sun from 1-4 during our open hours.
Reva is a pretty Shepard that is a bit on the smaller size. (Reva will
tell you that she is the perfect size!) In typical German Shepard fashion,
this good girl can be very affectionate and later be rather aloof. Hope
you have some good sneakers because this girl loves, loves long sniffly
walks. Here at the shelter, she appears to be house broken and word is she
was crate trained in her previous life. Poor Reva is a little nervous and
is looking for an adopter that can give her the time and space to feel
comfortable in her new home. While she does not want to live with another
dog, she could possibly live with a dog savvy cat. Are you ready to meet
this best girl? Stop by Nevins Farm Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Tulip is a sweet and shy lady who is looking for a new home of her own! Tulip came to us with a group of dogs that we received from an overcrowded kennel environment in the Texas. We don’t know too much about her history, but we know she is already making progress and coming out of her shell in New England. Tulip has been through a lot of transitions in a short period of time and she is looking for a patient family who can help show her the ropes and adjust to a home environment at her own pace. She can be nervous in new situations, but she is already getting more comfortable and asking for snuggles with some of her friends. Tulip has been around other dogs and might do well with another social dog to help build her confidence. She might be okay with older kids who can read her body language and respect her boundaries!

Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
Introducing Mia 2, a reserved yet gentle female pup seeking a patient and understanding forever home. Initially cautious, Mia 2 prefers a bit of distance when encountering new faces, needing time to acclimate to unfamiliar environments. She’s in search of compassionate individuals who appreciate her need for space and are willing to patiently guide her as she gradually opens up to the world around her.
Mia 2 would thrive in a tranquil environment with serene canine companions who respect her boundaries and allow her the time she needs to feel comfortable. With the right nurturing and gentle encouragement, Mia 2 has the potential to blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion, bringing joy to the hearts of those who give her the chance to shine.
Meet Zeus! A perpetual, fast-moving wiggle butt, watch his enthusiam adorably take over when he says “hello”! He’s a high energy guy and he’s got the muscles to prove it, but in addition to exercise, he will also need some help learning how to settle – he may not be the “Netflix and chill” type at home to begin with. Zeus has previously lived with a cat, but due to his size and strength introductions should be slow.

Budgerigars, the most common parakeet we see, are native to Australia where they live in massive flocks in the grasslands. Parakeets tend to be docile, gentle, can be easy to tame and can even talk! Despite their small size, these birds can have large vocabularies and can make a wonderful training companion. We recommend that parakeets live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Parakeets can live up to 7-15 years with proper nutrition and care, and can be a loyal companion.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Nests can be provided but should be removed if any females begin to lay eggs. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each parakeet are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the parakeet you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.
* If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, please click on the blue Inquire link above and fill out the form, or submit an inquiry at mspca.org/nevinsadopt. If you just want to browse in person feel free to stop by during our open hours.

Finches have a wonderful voice, and can be a joy to watch, but tend not to be a “hands on” bird. Native to Australia, finches can live up to 10 years with proper nutrition and care. We recommend that finches live in pairs or groups whenever possible.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. As a result of finches being a “hands off” bird they tend to spend much of their lives inside their cage, so we heavily recommend investing in a very spacious cage with lots of enrichment.
The needs of each finch are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the finch you are interested in, please give us a call! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Meet Leah! This sweet rabbit is looking for a home to call her own. Ms. Leah is looking for a home where she has lots of space to explore and roam around, as she is used to free roaming. She is very outgoing and social, and enjoys participating in family activities, like watching TV at night.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. We adopt our rabbits to live indoors only and in exercise pens instead of cages. Rabbits need a minimum 8 sqft of space enclosed by an exercise pen; plus access to an additional 24 sqft of space outside of their enclosure to exercise and play in for a minimum of 4 hours daily with supervision.

Meet Drake! This little boy is searching for his new forever home! Hamsters are crepuscular, meaning they are most active during the “dawn” and “dusk” hours. During the day Drake is often sleeping, cozy in his hiding hole, or in a den of his own making. During his waking hours, he can be found exploring his enclosure, packing snacks into his cheeks and hiding them, or running on his wheel.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.

Meet young Ash. This is a happy go lucky guy with a lot of energy. He
loves to play and is getting good at walking on a leash. Oh, dont let that
adorable face fool you. This puppy will require a bit more training with
polite greetings and to use that puppy mouth appropriately. Luckily, Ash
loves his snacks and will train for cookies. This good boy is looking to
join a home with kids that will help with training. The best situation
would be if he could live with an older, patient dog that will teach him
the ropes and want to play with a silly puppy. We have no history of what
Ash thinks of cats, so a dog-savvy cat would be a possibility.
Does Ash sound like the boy for you? If so, please head to the Methuen
MSPCA location Tuesday-Sunday between the hours of 12PM-4:30PM!

Joe and Darren are a pair of young boars who still have a lot to learn about the world. Humans are still a little scary for them so they are looking for a patient adopter who will let Joe and Darren settle in at their own pace and not put pressure on them to interact right away. With some time to decompress and A LOT of veggies, these boys will grow into lovely little companions.

Say hello to Sammy! His previous owner passed away, so we have little information about his life in his previous home. His temporary caretakers had said that while he can be shy at first, he is quite sweet once he gets used to you.

Are you looking for an easy going house hippo? Meet Grace! She is a perfect
4 year old pittie who is looking for a couch to snuggle up on. This good
girl loves all people, kids included. She could live with another dog that
wasnt too rough or pushy. Grace is a dignified lady and does not want to
deal with all that nonsense! And Grace says no thank you to living with
cats. This pretty girl walks beautifully on a leash and loves car rides.
Stop by Nevins Farm to meet Grace. Open hours are Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
