Meet Toph! This sweet girl is looking for her forever home with sister Azula! Toph would love a home where she can have all the greens her heart desires! Toph is still learning how to share with her sister, so they will need a large room where they can each have their own separate items (i.e. two bowls, two hiding holes, etc.).
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. Guinea pigs need a minimum 6.5 sqft wire cage (30”x36”) for 1-2 guinea pigs but preferably 10.5 sqft (30”x50”) for 2 guinea pigs and a minimum 8 sqft for 3 guinea pigs but preferably 13 sqft (30”x62”). More about Merami:
I am here at the shelter looking for my new home because I was fearful of the dog in my previous home. I stayed in a foster home while I waited for a dental, and my foster mom said that I am wonderful when approached on my own terms. I love to be pet and brushed, but only when I want them. When I am ready I will come up to you with head bumps, or put my paw on your arm. My adopter should use consent tests with me, and let me initiate contact, or scratches may be the result.
I will need a slow introduction to my new home. After several weeks in foster I became much more snuggly and affectionate, and 90% of the time I would sit on laps when they were available, but even then my cues needed to be watched.
I love sitting by windows to watch birds in a tall cat tree. I`ll occasionally show interest in wand toys and pounce toys, but mostly I like naps and lap time.
My ideal adopter will be very cat-savvy, who will let me initiate every social interaction, and who will read and understand my cat-body language. I am a really lovely cat, but with the right adopter!!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: No thanks!
Dogs: No thanks!
Kids: Teens and older who are very cat-savvy
Meet Maverick, a lively 3-year-old Foxhound mix with an abundance of energy and a bouncy personality. Maverick’s zest for life makes every day an adventure, and he’s always ready for playtime and outdoor fun. Due to his history of chasing cats, Maverick is best suited for a cat-free home where he can thrive without temptation. If you’re looking for an enthusiastic and spirited companion who will keep you on your toes and bring endless joy to your life, Maverick is the perfect match for you!
Meet Daisy! Daisy has been living in an office at the shelter for a few months. After initially being skeptical of her human companions, she quickly turned into a total cuddlebug – she rotates between cuddling HARD, playing fetch with a mouse toy, and relaxing on her own so her officemate can get some work done. While Daisy can be very affectionate, she’ll let you know when she doesn’t want to be pet with a hiss or a swat – this is especially true of those she’s not quite as familiar with. Daisy is smart, too, working for crunchy treats or entertaining herself with a treat-dispensing toy. We think she’ll bloom in a quiet home with a patient family and no other pets, where she can rule with an iron paw and a heart of gold. If you like some cattitude and have a lot of love to give a cat who’ll return the favor, Daisy just might be the gal for you.
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

We’d like to introduce a very special cat named Dad Kat. He is a 4 year old, and has a progressive case of FeLV – or Feline Leukemia Virus – which will shorten his lifespan, and we are hoping to find him a loving indoor-only home where he can live out his life. Despite his diagnosis, he can be social and affectionate with those he knows, once he is comfortable in his new space. Dad Kat would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.
More info on FeLV can be found here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951934
Peanuts is shy at first but is friendly and affectionate with people that he knows. He would prefer a quiet home without alot of foot traffic. He also needs a very clean litterbox(or 2) as he is a clean feline. He can be a lap cat once he gets to know you. Adopter would need a good releationship with their Veterinarian due to some of the conditions he has (can be discussed further to adopter).

Meet Puffin! He is 8 months old and is ready for his new home! He can be worried in new situations and is looking for someone to give him time and space to feel cozy/comfortable but once he’s opened up, he gets excited easily and loves to play! While he and his adopters get to know each other, his bubble should be kept small and predictable. Additionally, his adopters should be prepared for all things puppy: housetraining, puppy-proofing, and working on fine-tuning his manners using a gentle approach. Any kids in the home should be old enough to give him space while he’s settling in, and to participate in training once he’s more comfortable in the home.

We have several adorable Welsh Harlequin female ducks available for adoption! Ducks are very social animals, so we’d love to send these birds home in pairs at least (and even better if you already have a flock for them to join)! They have beautiful coloring on their feathers and love to splash in their pool!

This cat is part of our Working Cat Program! This program is for cats that are not well suited for an indoor-only type lifestyle but would thrive in environments with more space, a job, and/or less pressure from humans and other pets. Interested adopters must have a safe, secure structure or barn for a working cat and be able to provide adequate time for acclimation.
If you are interested, please stop in during our open hours.
If you would like to learn more about the Working Cat Program, or would like to fill out an application, please visit: www.mspca.org/barncat

More about Mila:
I have the potential to be a sweet, gentle companion with a very cat-savvy adopter who is willing to put in the extra effort to help me come out of my shell.
Expectations should be kept low at first, and understand that I will need time (weeks to a month or more) to show more of my true personality. Based on history in my previous home I will probably always be a bit skittish with new people, so a low-traffic, quiet home will be best for me. I will do best with people within my bubble (after time), but I am not be the type of cat to go up and greet visitors.
I need to start out in a single room with limited visits by people except when feeding or cleaning. Only when I am confidently moving about my environment and am confident with relaxed body language when my adopter enters the room should I be given access to more of the house, one room at a time using baby gates to restrict access.
Staff is available to my adopter should questions arise on how to help me adjust in my new home!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
