Buggsy is a cute and flashy paint mare who would make an adorable addition to your barn! We are looking for a companion-only home for Buggsy along with her best gal pal Muffin.
Buggsy has settled into our program at Nevins really nicely and is easy to halter in her stall, lead to her paddock, and catch for turn in. She is an easy keeper (as most ponies are) and seems quite hardy and healthy! We don’t have a full picture of her history, but as far as we know she came from an auction in Oklahoma and hasn’t done much ridden work in her life. She would be best suited to just hang out and be your best friend from the ground!
Buggsy is patient for vet care and enjoys being groomed and fussed over. She seems to really like her cozy stall this winter, but could likely handle living out 24/7 with adequate shelter and blanketing in bad weather.

Despite his goofiness, Pepsi is overflowing with love just waiting to be shared. His wagging tail and eager eyes are a testament to his unwavering devotion to those who take the time to understand him. If you’re ready to welcome a furry friend who promises endless laughter and a lifetime of cuddles, Pepsi is ready to be your loyal companion. Given her exuberant nature, any children in the household should be comfortable with a lively companion and willing to participate in her training sessions, ensuring a harmonious and fulfilling relationship for all.
With Zena, you’ll find a loyal and affectionate companion eager to embark on adventures and share endless cuddles. As she learns and grows, her potential shines brighter each day, promising years of laughter, love, and cherished memories. More about Sophie:
I am an easy-going, mellow lady who is interactive and social on my terms. Prior to getting to my current weight I used to be more playful. I enjoyed dangly wand toys, and it is important for my adopters to introduce play back into my daily routine.
I should have a very slow introduction to my new home. I should start in one quiet room with managed hiding spaces, and gradually be given more access to the house as I settle in. My adopter should be prepared to leave me be at the beginning, and let me solicit interactions as I become comfortable.
A fear-free vet is recommended! I am sensitive for close handling. My adopters should be cat-savvy and comfortable reading cat-body language. Consent tests should be used.
My medical records are available for potential adopters to look at. I am clearly a chunky girl (I think I am just big-boned!), and my adopter should discuss working with a vet to help me shed some pounds!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: Possibly – no history. Use a slow introduction
Dogs: Possibly – no history. Cat-savvy, mellow, knows to give her space.
Kids: Older, quiet, cat-savvy
Say hello to Bean! She was recently transported from another shelter in Maryland and is ready for her new home. This teeny lady is shy but oh so sweet once she warms up to you!

Carlos is an adorable 1 year old Nigerian Dwarf wether. He is very shy, so would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who can handle him and help him warm up to people over time. He deserves a loving home where he can relax and learn that humans are his friends!
Goats are herd animals and need the company of other goats to be healthy and happy. We are looking for adopters who can take at least a pair of goats or have an existing herd at home that they’d like to expand. Interested adopters should have housing for their goats to include proper shelter from the elements and fencing to contain these notorious escape artists. As they say – if it can’t hold water, it can’t hold a goat!
All goats are up to date on their medical needs, but will need routine maintenance moving forward for things like hoof trims and yearly vaccines.
Interested in adding a hilarious and sweet group of goats to your home? Fill out an adoption form by clicking the “Inquire” button and a staff member will reach out to discuss!
Snoopy is a shy young pup with impressive ears! He came to us as a stray, so he is a bit nervous and reserved due to all the changes in his life.
Once he is comfortable, he is a playful, bouncy guy who loves his people. He is looking for an adopter that will give him time to adjust to his new
environment and keep his world small and controlled. He is still young so his adopter will need to puppy proof the house and work on his puppy
manners. With appropriate management, Snoopy could live with another dog or a dog-savvy cat. And older kids with good shy-dog skills would also
work.
Are you interested in meeting Snoopy? If so, please visit us at the Methuen MSPCA location Tuesday-Sunday from 12PM-4:30PM.
Dane is an adorable 3 year old Nigerian Dwarf wether. He is very shy, so would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who can handle him and help him warm up to people over time. He deserves a loving home where he can relax and learn that humans are his friends!

Meet Levi, a sweet and curious Goldendoodle with a zest for life and a heart full of love! Levi’s enthusiasm for meeting new people is contagious, and his friendly, bouncy nature makes every encounter a joyous one. This big cuddly bug has lived in a home with children and is always eager to play and snuggle, though his playful energy means he can sometimes be a bit bouncy—just be sure the kids don’t get knocked over by his affectionate antics.
Levi’s greatest wish is to become your new best friend, offering endless cuddles and companionship. His loving nature and enthusiasm for life make him the perfect addition to any family looking for a loyal and joyful furry friend. If you’re ready to welcome a sweet and spirited Goldendoodle into your home, Levi is eagerly waiting to meet you and fill your life with happiness and love.
If you are looking for a bigger dog with a lot of personality, then meet
Hank. This best boy has a good history of living with kids and once he
knows you, you are his forever friend. And as his new best friend, Hank is
hoping you want to play a long game of fetch with tennis balls. Hank walks well
on a leash, knows sit and paw, and would love to learn new things if there
are yummy treats involved. Hank really, really likes his treats. This is
great because Hank will need a patient adopter to help him learn how to
greet people and how to settle on his own. The home will need to be puppy
proofed because no one has told him that he is no longer a puppy. Hank
could possibly live with a well-matched dog friend or a dog savvy cat. In
his previous home, Hank lived successfully with children of
different ages. The kids should be sturdy enough so as not to be knocked
over by this bouncy boy. Finally, this good boy has been through many
changes recently and would do best if his new adopters kept his world small and
let him decompress. Would you like to meet Hank? Visit the MSPCA Methuen
location Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Bigos and Pierogi are two cute cockatiels looking for a home together. We don’t know much about their history, but they have been settling in well since coming to us. They can be nervous about new people, but they seem very curious about their surrounding. Bigos and Pierogi are looking for a home where their new family can give them time to adjust and learn that people are friends!
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt.
If you haven’t picked out an enclosure yet, we’d love to help! The Association of Avian Veterinarians has a chart on the minimum cage dimensions that are acceptable for housing the birds we commonly see in our adoption center. As a rule of thumb, get the largest cage you can provide—the bigger the better!
A few important recommendations
SIZE: Wire or mesh cages are preferred that are at least 1.5 to 2 times the wingspan of the bird in all directions. When a bird spreads both wings out, there should be enough room so the wings and tail are not touching any cage bars including top or bottom. The bird should be able to easily spin around on a perch without the tail hitting any cage bars including top/bottom of the cage. The cage should be big enough that the bird can fly with ease from the bottom of the cage to the top without the wings touching any cage bars or any other obstacles (like toys).
BAR SPACING: Make sure the spacing of the bars is small enough that your bird cannot escape! Select a finger or fingers that appear to be the same thickness as the bird’s wing. When checking bar spacing, if your finger or fingers (thickness) fits between the cage bar spacing, then the cage bar spacing is not proper for that bird (a bird could get harmed).
We suggest covering wire mesh platforms or bottoms with a layer of newspaper or other solid surface as exposed wire can cause abrasions to feet, as well as possibly catch and break toes and tails
Companion Birds should receive at least a half hour to an hour of interaction time with their human family; such as training, playing, and/or socially interacting.

Introducing Mia 2, a reserved yet gentle female pup seeking a patient and understanding forever home. Initially cautious, Mia 2 prefers a bit of distance when encountering new faces, needing time to acclimate to unfamiliar environments. She’s in search of compassionate individuals who appreciate her need for space and are willing to patiently guide her as she gradually opens up to the world around her.
Mia 2 would thrive in a tranquil environment with serene canine companions who respect her boundaries and allow her the time she needs to feel comfortable. Worried about ticks and flies around your barn this summer? Our guinea fowl can help! We have several male guinea fowl available for adoption and they are experts at eating up any and all insects around your property. They are a bit shy and skittish around people, but get along with each other very nicely and have easily coexisted within a mixed flock of roosters and hens. They have stunning feathers and a very distinct voice when they get all riled up. They are a super entreating bunch who love to zoom around in their outdoor enclosure and perch up high in the sunshine.
Meet our precious young pup, a gentle soul navigating the world with a tender heart and cautious steps. This adorable dog has faced numerous transitions in their young life, leaving them understandably apprehensive of new experiences and people. They’re seeking a patient and understanding family who can provide plenty of time and space for them to blossom into their true selves. A confident older dog as a role model would be a perfect companion, helping to show that the world isn’t as scary as it seems and instilling a sense of confidence in their uncertain heart. With the right environment and guidance, this fearful pup is sure to transform into a loyal and loving companion.
Spirit cats are very shy with people, and live in your home but are rarely seen – hence their name. They are cats who coexist in your home, and sometimes may grant you the opportunity to touch them – or they may not. Despite being shy with people, spirit cats are usually great with other cats! They are used to living with many cats, and can make excellent companions for cats in your home. It’s not uncommon for a spirit cat to get used to one or two people over time, and those people will be allowed to touch them and they may even choose to hang out near you or sleep on your bed at night. They are a great choice for people with a quiet household, who want to make a difference for an individual cat. Patience and understanding are the best tools when welcoming a spirit cat into your home. It’s important to know that spirit cats won’t magically turn into a normal acting cat – what you see is what you get for a long time, maybe always.
They are a fine choice for situations where you don’t have a lot of time to devote to a pet as they don’t require a lot of attention from humans. They are not a good choice for a busy home, including those with small children.
