More about Mila:
I have the potential to be a sweet, gentle companion with a very cat-savvy adopter who is willing to put in the extra effort to help me come out of my shell.
Expectations should be kept low at first, and understand that I will need time (weeks to a month or more) to show more of my true personality. Based on history in my previous home I will probably always be a bit skittish with new people, so a low-traffic, quiet home will be best for me. I will do best with people within my bubble (after time), but I am not be the type of cat to go up and greet visitors.
I need to start out in a single room with limited visits by people except when feeding or cleaning. Only when I am confidently moving about my environment and am confident with relaxed body language when my adopter enters the room should I be given access to more of the house, one room at a time using baby gates to restrict access.
Staff is available to my adopter should questions arise on how to help me adjust in my new home!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: No thank you
Dogs: No thank you
Kids: Older, quiet and cat-savvy
We have several gorgeous geese available for adoption! Geese are very social animals, so we’d love to send these birds home in pairs at least (and even better if you already have a flock for them to join)! Geese make great flock protectors and these guys and gals would love a job to do.
Meet Hank! Hank is a beautiful Lorikeet who is ready to fly off to their new home. They have a history of overplucking and so a relationship with an exotics vet will be a plus!
Lorikeets can be highly social (even attention seeking!) and have beautiful colors. Lorikeets originate from the southeast Asia archipelago or parts of Australia and tend to live in large groups. They can live up to 30 years with proper nutrition and care. They are nectivores and eat nectar, pollen, fruits and veggies.
Lorikeets can be very active, requiring lots of enrichment opportunities and can be wonderful training companions. They love to play with toys and will play with just about anything! Because Lorikeets cannot talk, they can be quieter than other parrot species. Hank does still love to make himself known though!
We recommend a cage that is at least 32”x23” (Width x depth) with a maximum of 5/8-3/4” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Lorikeets love to bathe and ideally will have the ability to bathe multiple times a day.
The needs of each bird are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the bird you are interested in, please feel free to give us a call! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.
Meet Sweet Pea, our sensitive and special cat in need of a patient and understanding adopter! Transitioning to a new home can be overwhelming for her so she’s searching for someone willing to give her all the time she needs to settle in comfortably. Sweet Pea’s success hinges on adopters who can read and understand her body language, as meeting new people can be quite daunting for her.
She may find solace in a small bubble once she settles in with you. Think of her as a “pet themselves on you” kind of cat; she should always initiate interactions, and a “petting consent test” could be helpful in ensuring she’s comfortable and in control of the situation. If you’re ready to provide a loving and understanding forever home to this special kitty, come meet Sweet Pea today and embark on a journey of mutual trust and companionship.
Sing us a song, you’re the Pekingese pair, Billy and Joel!
These two rockstar brothers are ready to serenade their way into your heart and home. Billy and Joel might not have sold out stadiums, but they’re ready to headline the biggest show of all: your family!
At 10 years young, Billy and Joel have perfected the art of harmonizing snores and creating melodies with their wagging tails. While their history might be a mystery, their love for each other and their desire for a calm home is crystal clear.
Together, they’re a symphony of fur and fun, guaranteed to keep you entertained. And here’s the best part: you can adopt them together for double the fun, or if you prefer a solo act, they’re ready to rock your world individually too!
So, if you’re looking for a duo that’ll make your heart sing, look no further than Billy and Joel. Stop by during open hours to speak with our staff about them!
Meet Cheeks! This lovely lady and her sister Sandy are looking for a new forever home! Cheeks’ favorite snack is carrots, and she loves to munch on them! Once she gets to know you she loves nothing more than getting bum scratches from her favorite person. Cheeks can’t wait to find her forever home and hopes there’s lot of yummy vegetables there for her.

Meet Clementine. She is a spirited adult feline! Sweet but spicy, but she is full of personality and can make a great companion for the right person or family. It’s important she finds someone who understands her needs and temperament and can give her time to settle in a new home.
Are you looking for a dog with the perfect medium amount of energy? Look no
further than Patty. This best girl does not want to go for a lengthy run.
However, in her beagley way, she will never, ever turn down a long sniffly
walk. And she is a very good loose leash walker. Just ask her. Patty can
also be the perfect couch buddy for some binge watching. Her history says
that she likes some dogs and not others. She is also not a fan of cats.
Poor Patty has been through a number of changes recently and will benefit
from an adopter that will give her time and room to decompress and adjust
to her new home. Children who are old enough to give her space when she
needs it would be perfect. Would you like to meet this good girl? Come to
the MSPCA at Nevins Farm Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Hi … A group of us cuties were recently transported from South Carolina to Massachusetts to find our forever homes. No history is available for us, and right now we range from friendly to a little bit shy, but once we settle in to our new homes, our true personalities will surely shine!
Are you interested in adopting a one-year old with lots of love to give? Be sure to stop by during our open hours to meet us!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats!
I just arrived at the shelter with a few other young cats to find my forever home! We have no history for us, but I hope you will stop by to meet us and hopefully adopt one of us and love us forever!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
This cat is part of our Working Cat Program! This program is for cats that are not well suited for an indoor-only type lifestyle but would thrive in environments with more space, a job, and/or less pressure from humans and other pets. Interested adopters must have a safe, secure structure or barn for a working cat and be able to provide adequate time for acclimation.
If you are interested, please stop in during our open hours.
If you would like to learn more about the Working Cat Program, or would like to fill out an application, please visit: www.mspca.org/barncat
Ernie is an adorable 4 year old Nigerian Dwarf wether. He is very shy, so would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who can handle him and help him warm up to people over time. He deserves a loving home where he can relax and learn that humans are his friends!
Goats are herd animals and need the company of other goats to be healthy and happy. We are looking for adopters who can take at least a pair of goats or have an existing herd at home that they’d like to expand. Interested adopters should have housing for their goats to include proper shelter from the elements and fencing to contain these notorious escape artists. As they say – if it can’t hold water, it can’t hold a goat!
All goats are up to date on their medical needs, but will need routine maintenance moving forward for things like hoof trims and yearly vaccines.
Interested in adding a hilarious and sweet group of goats to your home? Fill out an adoption form by clicking the “Inquire” button and a staff member will reach out to discuss!

If you haven’t picked out an enclosure yet, we’d love to help! The Association of Avian Veterinarians has a chart on the minimum cage dimensions that are acceptable for housing the birds we commonly see in our adoption center. As a rule of thumb, get the largest cage you can provide—the bigger the better!
A few important recommendations
SIZE: Wire or mesh cages are preferred that are at least 1.5 to 2 times the wingspan of the bird in all directions. When a bird spreads both wings out, there should be enough room so the wings and tail are not touching any cage bars including top or bottom. The bird should be able to easily spin around on a perch without the tail hitting any cage bars including top/bottom of the cage. The cage should be big enough that the bird can fly with ease from the bottom of the cage to the top without the wings touching any cage bars or any other obstacles (like toys).
BAR SPACING: Make sure the spacing of the bars is small enough that your bird cannot escape! Select a finger or fingers that appear to be the same thickness as the bird’s wing. When checking bar spacing, if your finger or fingers (thickness) fits between the cage bar spacing, then the cage bar spacing is not proper for that bird (a bird could get harmed).
We suggest covering wire mesh platforms or bottoms with a layer of newspaper or other solid surface as exposed wire can cause abrasions to feet, as well as possibly catch and break toes and tails
