    Animal protection bill signed by governor patrick

    Gov Patrick signs animal control bill

    Amazing news - the comprehensive animal care and control bill, S. 2192, was enacted by the legislature last Monday and signed by Governor Patrick on Thursday. This landmark legislation will create a statewide spay/neuter program funded by a voluntary state income tax check-off and do many more great things for animals.  Read more and take a minute to thank your elected officials>>

    Veterinarian with DogH. 2326 would clarify the cruelty statute to require veterinary care to relieve an animal's unnecessary suffering in cases where it is obvious that an animal needs veterinary care. This bill passed the House and is awaiting movement in the Senate. Read more>>

    dog truck 100wS.88 would expand the current law to require the addition of a bittering agent to wholesale containers of antifreeze to prevent poisonings. This bill passed the Senate and is awaiting a final vote in the House. Read more>>

    Legislative Update 

    The 2011-2012 formal legislative session is over, but there are still several months left before the end of the informal session.  Bills that will benefit animals still need your help to become law.  Read an update on what happened and what still can happen in the legislature here.  Visit www.mspca.org/takeaction to send emails to legislators on pending bills that affect animals.
