Meet Buckeye! This energetic boy is looking for a new place to call his own! Buckeye is spunky and curious, and would love a place where he can run around and get out his bunny energy. Buckeye has lots of young rabbit energy, and will need help learning his indoor manners as he currently enjoys chewing everything, including sweatshirts and sleeves! Due to his unknown history it is unclear whether Buckeye would enjoy a rabbit companion.

Meet Steak! This sweet girl is looking for her new forever home! Hamsters are crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk. During the day Steak can be found taking a nap with her cage mate Drake. When she is awake, Ms. Steak keeps herself busy by running on her exercise wheel, or digging new tunnels in her bedding. As she grows she would love a bigger enclosure, where she can continue tunneling and making secret spots for all her snacks.

Budgerigars, the most common parakeet we see, are native to Australia where they live in massive flocks in the grasslands. Parakeets tend to be docile, gentle, can be easy to tame and can even talk! Despite their small size, these birds can have large vocabularies and can make a wonderful training companion. We recommend that parakeets live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Parakeets can live up to 7-15 years with proper nutrition and care, and can be a loyal companion.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Nests can be provided but should be removed if any females begin to lay eggs. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each parakeet are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the parakeet you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Cholula, Tapatio, and Texas Pete were originally kittens in an outdoor cat colony. In their first year, they moved inside with a kind samaritan who cared for the colony. These sweet kitties are shy at first given their history of starting life at a distance from people, but they have been known to make human friends with plenty of time and space to grow their confidence. They could be adopted together or separately. Each of these kitties would likely benefit from having a confident feline friend at home, so if you have a resident cat looking for a pal, one of these hot sauce cats might be right for you!
Meet Isola! This lovely girl is looking for a home with her sister Giardino. These sweet girls love snuggling together, and can be found sharing a hiding hole at anytime. They also enjoy snacking together on treats, like greens and vegetables!

Meet Walter! He and his old pal Albert are the cutest little old ponies we’ve ever met.
Walter leads well and has settled nicely into his routine of turning out for the day and coming in to our cozy barn for the evening. He and Albert share a paddock, a stall, and their meals – they are best buds! Walter’s teeth are quite worn, so he requires a soaked diet, but he is at a healthy weight and seems to be a relatively easy keeper. He does require a little extra medical maintenance due to his advanced age, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 25+ year old distinguished gentleman. Walter is patient for vet care, but has a hard time standing for the farrier so will need some extra support on that front.
These two little pony geldings would love a quiet spot to retire together. They are both very friendly, curious, and gentle. And they love a good grooming session! We haven’t turned them out with any other horses given their age and specific diet, but they could easily share a fenceline with friends. If you have experience with older ponies, these two guys could be a great match for you!
Meet Bunjamin! Bunjamin is a curious guy who is looking for a new home! He loves to watch what is going on around him, and can be found sitting up on his hind legs, looking out at the going ons of the day. He would love a place of his own, that he can explore as much as he wants while watching all that is going on. He loves to nibble on his daily greens and would love to have a home where he can have many yummy vegetables!

Meet Loon! She is 8 months old and is ready for her new home! She can be worried in new situations and is looking for someone to give her time and space to feel cozy/comfortable but once shes opened up, she gets excited easily and loves to play! While she and her adopters get to know each other, her bubble should be kept small and predictable. Additionally, her adopters should be prepared for all things puppy: house training, puppy-proofing, and working on fine-tuning her manners using a gentle approach. Any kids in the home should be old enough to give her space while shes settling in, and to participate in training once shes more comfortable in the home.

Meet Drake! This little boy is searching for his new forever home! Hamsters are crepuscular, meaning they are most active during the “dawn” and “dusk” hours. During the day Drake is often sleeping, cozy in his hiding hole, or in a den of his own making. During his waking hours, he can be found exploring his enclosure, packing snacks into his cheeks and hiding them, or running on his wheel.

We’d like to introduce a very special cat named Juliette. She is 1 year old, and has a progressive case of FeLV – or Feline Leukemia Virus – which will shorten her lifespan, and we are hoping to find her a loving indoor-only home where she can live out her life. Despite her diagnosis, she can be social and affectionate with those she knows, once she is comfortable in her new space. Juliette would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.
More info on FeLV can be found here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951934

Beth is a sweet and smart puppy looking for a home of her own! This adorable girl and her sister came to us from a southern shelter so we don’t know much about their history, but they have been very snuggly since they got here. Beth has been through a lot of transitions in her short life and is looking for a family who can teach her about the world in a safe and fun way! This little cutie pie still has lots of puppy basics to learn and will need a patient home to show her the ropes. We think Beth could likely do well with another social dog and kids. If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs.
Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources.

Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in – and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
Meet Betsy, our sensitive and special cat in need of a patient and understanding adopter! Transitioning to a new home can be overwhelming for her so she’s searching for someone willing to give her all the time she needs to settle in comfortably. Betsy’s success hinges on adopters who can read and understand her body language, as meeting new people can be quite daunting for her.
She may find solace in a small bubble once she settles in with you. Think of her as a “pet themselves on you” kind of cat; she should always initiate interactions, and a “petting consent test” could be helpful in ensuring she’s comfortable and in control of the situation. If you’re ready to provide a loving and understanding forever home to this special kitty, come meet Betsy today and embark on a journey of mutual trust and companionship.
Meet young Ash. This is a happy go lucky guy with a lot of energy. He
loves to play and is getting good at walking on a leash. Oh, dont let that
adorable face fool you. This puppy will require a bit more training with
polite greetings and to use that puppy mouth appropriately. Luckily, Ash
loves his snacks and will train for cookies. This good boy is looking to
join a home with kids that will help with training. The best situation
would be if he could live with an older, patient dog that will teach him
the ropes and want to play with a silly puppy. We have no history of what
Ash thinks of cats, so a dog-savvy cat would be a possibility.
Does Ash sound like the boy for you? If so, please head to the Methuen
MSPCA location Tuesday-Sunday between the hours of 12PM-4:30PM!
Joe and Darren are a pair of young boars who still have a lot to learn about the world. Humans are still a little scary for them so they are looking for a patient adopter who will let Joe and Darren settle in at their own pace and not put pressure on them to interact right away. With some time to decompress and A LOT of veggies, these boys will grow into lovely little companions.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
