Cyrus is a good boy that really loves to be with his people. He is also a
very trainable dog that already knows commands like sit, down and roll
over. What do you think he should learn next? He is already housetrained
(though he might need a refresher after living in the shelter). And he
loves, loves rope toys and plushies. This good boy can entertain himself!
Cyrus will need a patient adopter to help him with training. He can get
excited easily so he should only live with children big enough not to be
tipped over by a bouncy boy. He could probably live with a more relaxed
dog because he can be a bit nervous and worried around other dogs. And he
could possibly live with a very dog savvy cat.
Cyrus is looking for a family of his own. Do you think you are his
family? Meet Cyrus at the Methuen MSPCA Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

More about Kat:
I am a cute, mellow girl with good history living with another cat. In fact, I am here with Kitty. We are a bonded pair: we love each other and want to spend our lives together. Double the fun, double the love!!
We will need a slow introduction to our new home. We should start in one small, quiet room with managed hiding spaces (an extra bedroom or bathroom), and gradually be given access to the home as we settle in and become comfortable in our new surroundings. Our adopter should be prepared to ideally leave us be in the beginning except for feeding and cleaning, and let us solicit interactions as we become comfortable.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: Yes
Dogs: Possibly – no history. Cat-savvy, mellow, and will give Kitty and Cat space
Kids: Possibly – older
Meet Sienna, a gentle 3-year-old dog with a heart full of love just waiting to be shared. Sienna can be a bit nervous around new people and situations, and she takes some time to warm up. However, once she feels safe and comfortable, Sienna blossoms into a loving companion who adores being petted and showered with affection. Her cautious nature makes her a perfect match for a patient and understanding home where she can feel secure and loved. If you’re looking for a loyal and tender-hearted friend who just needs a little time to trust, Sienna is the perfect match for you!
Curious George out, Curious Crackle in! This sweet boy loves to explore and adores his food, and would prefer to keep all four of his feet on the ground. You might think his nose looks a little weird, but Crackle had to get a little bit of a nose job because he was injured by another rabbit that wasn’t a good match for him in his previous home. Despite his makeover, Crackle is still as loving and curious as ever!
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. We adopt our rabbits to live indoors only and in exercise pens instead of cages. Rabbits need a minimum 8 sqft of space enclosed by an exercise pen; plus access to an additional 24 sqft of space outside of their enclosure to exercise and play in for a minimum of 4 hours daily with supervision.

Say Hey to Regina George! Regina is a sassy and playful Lionhead Rabbit who is ready for her new home! Regina George would do best with an experienced bunny owner, as she has a bit of spicyness to her.
We recommend providing a safe indoor enclosure that allows a rabbit to stretch their legs and move around. The needs of each rabbit are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the rabbit you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice
Hood and his brother Piglet Jr. are brother boars who are looking for a new home together. Hood is the bolder brother and loves to cuddle with humans and is known to be quiet the escape artist. Male guinea pigs benefit from a more spacious enclosure and two of everything to keep both boys happy.

*Please be sure your town regulations allow for roosters on your property before you inquire about adoption!*
Roosters for hire! We have so many good boys hanging out in our bachelor pad waiting for a flock of ladies of their very own. Our roosters are respectful of people and social with other birds – they are ready to do their job of protecting your hens! We have a wide variety of sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Roosters are full of personality and make great additions to any hobby flock!
Meet Lily Mae, the adorable bundle of joy who’s ready to steal your heart! This cute, snuggly, and sometimes stinky puppy is overflowing with love and intelligence. Lily Mae has been diligently working on mastering new skills like keeping her feet on the floor and learning to control her mouth, proving herself to be a remarkably fast learner with the right support by her side. Lily Mae arrived as a single puppy, which means she likely missed out on crucial socialization with her littermates and mother, so may need a little extra support as she continues learning her manners. If you’re ready to offer Lily Mae the supportive and loving home she deserves, she’s eagerly waiting to embark on this new chapter of her life with you!
Meet Giardino! This lovely girl is looking for a home with her sister Isola. These sweet girls love snuggling together, and can be found sharing a hiding hole at anytime. They also enjoy snacking together on treats, like greens and vegetables!

Budgerigars, the most common parakeet we see, are native to Australia where they live in massive flocks in the grasslands. Parakeets tend to be docile, gentle, can be easy to tame and can even talk! Despite their small size, these birds can have large vocabularies and can make a wonderful training companion. We recommend that parakeets live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Parakeets can live up to 7-15 years with proper nutrition and care, and can be a loyal companion.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Nests can be provided but should be removed if any females begin to lay eggs. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each parakeet are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the parakeet you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

More about Nalah:
I am a playful, chatty, affectionate, and sweet lady who loves to sunbathe and look out windows.
I can be sensitive to loud noises, and will do best ion a quiet, low-traffic home. I will need a slow transition into my new home starting in a small, quiet space and gradually be given access to more of the home as I settle in and become comfortable in my new surroundings.
My adopter should have a relationship with a fear-free vet, since I have a low tolerance for handling/vet restraint, and a sedative may be needed for my vet visits.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Thursday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: No thanks
Dogs: No thanks
Kids: Possibly, able to read cat-body language
Meet our precious young pup, a gentle soul navigating the world with a tender heart and cautious steps. This adorable dog has faced numerous transitions in their young life, leaving them understandably apprehensive of new experiences and people. They’re seeking a patient and understanding family who can provide plenty of time and space for them to blossom into their true selves. A confident older dog as a role model would be a perfect companion, helping to show that the world isn’t as scary as it seems and instilling a sense of confidence in their uncertain heart. With the right environment and guidance, this fearful pup is sure to transform into a loyal and loving companion.
We’d like to introduce a very special cat named Dolly. She is a 3 year old, and has a progressive case of FeLV – or Feline Leukemia Virus – which will shorten her lifespan, and we are hoping to find her a loving indoor-only home where she can live out her life. Despite her diagnosis, she can be social and affectionate with those she knows, once she is comfortable in her new space. Dolly would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.
More info on FeLV can be found here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951934
