Storm is a sweet and squishy little boy ready for his next adventure. He loves to meet new people and other dogs! Storm didn’t get a lot of socialization when he was younger so he can be a bit nervous in new situations, but he is getting braver everyday. This little sweetie pie loves to snuggle and play and would likely do well in a home with another social dog to help show him the ropes. He has been through a lot of transitions in a short amount of time and is looking for a home that can help him settle in at his own pace.
If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs.
Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources.
For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in – and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
Introducing Tunka, the delightful embodiment of joy and exuberance in canine form! This adult female dog is a bundle of silliness, playfulness, and cuddles all wrapped up in a big, lovable package. Tunka doesn’t just have a big personality; she’s also a big girl who dreams of being a lap dog, unaware of her considerable size. Families considering adopting Tunka should be prepared for a canine companion who brings boundless energy and affection into their lives.
Despite her size, Tunka’s heart is as large as her enthusiasm for life. She’s a happy-go-lucky girl who finds sheer delight in the simple pleasures, whether it’s chasing after a favorite toy or snuggling up for a cozy cuddle session. Potential adopters with children should be comfortable with a dog who may not understand personal space boundaries but makes up for it with heaps of love and loyalty. If you’re ready to welcome a furry friend who embodies the spirit of pure joy, come meet Tunka!
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

Koba is a very handsome, squishy boy who has a good history of living with
kids, dogs and cats. He is crate trained and house trained. And he is
ready to play a long, long game of fetch. Get ready! This sweet guy is a
bit worried and has had a tough time with some of his recent transitions.
He will need some time and space to adjust to his new living arrangements.
Good boy Koba loves people yet needs some help working on how to best ask
for that attention. His ideal adopters will continue his manners
training. At the shelter, Koba has enjoyed playdates with other dogs and
enjoys their company. His play style is a little boisterous so his dog
friends will need to match his energy level.
If you think Koba would be a good fit for your family, come visit him at
the MSPCA in Methuen Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30pm.

Carlos is an adorable 1 year old Nigerian Dwarf wether. He is very shy, so would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who can handle him and help him warm up to people over time. He deserves a loving home where he can relax and learn that humans are his friends!
Goats are herd animals and need the company of other goats to be healthy and happy. We are looking for adopters who can take at least a pair of goats or have an existing herd at home that they’d like to expand. Interested adopters should have housing for their goats to include proper shelter from the elements and fencing to contain these notorious escape artists. As they say – if it can’t hold water, it can’t hold a goat!
All goats are up to date on their medical needs, but will need routine maintenance moving forward for things like hoof trims and yearly vaccines.
Interested in adding a hilarious and sweet group of goats to your home? Fill out an adoption form by clicking the “Inquire” button and a staff member will reach out to discuss!
Curious George out, Curious Crackle in! This sweet boy loves to explore and adores his food, and would prefer to keep all four of his feet on the ground. You might think his nose looks a little weird, but Crackle had to get a little bit of a nose job because he was injured by another rabbit that wasn’t a good match for him in his previous home. Despite his makeover, Crackle is still as loving and curious as ever!
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. We adopt our rabbits to live indoors only and in exercise pens instead of cages. Hi … A group of us cuties were recently transported from South Carolina to Massachusetts to find our forever homes. No history is available for us, and right now we range from friendly to a little bit shy, but once we settle in to our new homes, our true personalities will surely shine!
Are you interested in adopting a one-year old with lots of love to give? Be sure to stop by during our open hours to meet us!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats!
*Please be sure your town regulations allow for guinea fowl on your property before you inquire about adoption!*
Worried about ticks and flies around your barn this summer? Our guinea fowl can help! We have several male guinea fowl available for adoption and they are experts at eating up any and all insects around your property. They are a bit shy and skittish around people, but get along with each other very nicely and have easily coexisted within a mixed flock of roosters and hens. They have stunning feathers and a very distinct voice when they get all riled up. They are a super entreating bunch who love to zoom around in their outdoor enclosure and perch up high in the sunshine.
Meet Princesa! This regal mix breed has lots of love (and energy!) to give, and she cant wait to find her new home where she will be treated like true royalty! We have limited information on Princesa’s life before she came to us, but what weve seen here is that shes a little unsure about the sights and sounds of the big city, and will need a patient adopter who can help her settle in at her own pace. Once shes had time to make herself at home, she cant wait to show you her playful side!
Introducing Zena, a spirited female dog bursting with energy and enthusiasm! While she’s still mastering her manners, her boundless zest for life is contagious. Zena’s excitement sometimes manifests as jumping and nipping, especially when she’s overjoyed. We’re seeking adopters who are committed to continuing her training journey at home, providing the patience and guidance she needs to flourish. Given her exuberant nature, any children in the household should be comfortable with a lively companion and willing to participate in her training sessions, ensuring a harmonious and fulfilling relationship for all.
With Zena, you’ll find a loyal and affectionate companion eager to embark on adventures and share endless cuddles. As she learns and grows, her potential shines brighter each day, promising years of laughter, love, and cherished memories. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a delightful bundle of energy, Zena is waiting to become your devoted canine companion. Come meet her and discover the joy of nurturing a special bond built on patience, understanding, and unwavering love.
*Please be sure your town regulations allow for roosters on your property before you inquire about adoption!*
Roosters for hire! We have so many good boys hanging out in our bachelor pad waiting for a flock of ladies of their very own. Our roosters are respectful of people and social with other birds – they are ready to do their job of protecting your hens! We have a wide variety of sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Roosters are full of personality and make great additions to any hobby flock!
We’d like to introduce a very special cat named alex. She is 1 year old, and has a progressive case of FeLV – or Feline Leukemia Virus – which will shorten her lifespan, and we are hoping to find her a loving indoor-only home where she can live out her life. Despite her diagnosis, she can be social and affectionate with those she knows, once she is comfortable in her new space. Alex would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.
More info on FeLV can be found here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951934
Meet Mr. Bubble! This local man of mystery was found in the woods by a pest control specialist. It took a couple of days to catch him because this smart survivalist had created a modest network of underground tunnels in his temporary haven. Since he’s been at the shelter, Mr. Bubble has proven to be the cuddliest and chillest man alive. He loves lounging out and about in his kennel with his feet splayed out to the side and also enjoys hanging out with staff in his cuddle cup while they do desk work and give him pets. Given his origins, we don’t know anythng about this XXL boar’s history, so if he goes home to be bonded to another boar, it should be a very slow and intentional bonding process with a spacious enclosure for them to eventually share.
Guinea pigs need a minimum 6.5 sqft wire cage (30”x36”) for 1-2 guinea pigs but preferably 10.5 sqft (30”x50”) for 2 guinea pigs and a minimum 8 sqft for 3 guinea pigs but preferably 13 sqft (30”x62”). Cages must have a solid bottom and more room is always encouraged!

Meet 6 year old Benji! Benji is the full package- he`s big, strong, silly and smart! He is looking for a patient adopter who is excited about training using positive reinforcement to help him learn his best leash walking skills. Although Benji is able to navigate a world close to other dogs, he would likely thrive in a lower trafficked environment outside. Benji has the potential to have some calm, tolerant canine roommates or walking friends. Benji may be able to live with kids who are comfortable with a big strong dog! Benji does not have a history with cats, so any interested adopters should be committed to taking an introduction with a resident cat extremely slowly!
If Benji sounds like the dog for you, please visit our Methuen Adoption Center Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Introducing Bandit, a handsome and mysterious fellow in search of a special someone who can appreciate his unique charms. This dashing gentleman may initially keep his distance, preferring to observe the world from the shadows. Touch is not on his agenda, at least not right away—or perhaps ever. But beneath his cautious exterior lies a heart full of untapped potential, waiting for the right person to unlock it.
Bandit’s ideal home is a tranquil haven where he can feel safe and secure, with patient companions who understand his need for space and independence. With time and understanding, Bandit may surprise you with his quiet affection and loyalty, proving that even the most elusive hearts can be won over with love and patience. If you’re ready to welcome a furry companion who marches to the beat of his own drum, Bandit could be the perfect match for you.

More about Kitty:
I am a playful, adventurous boy with good history living with another cat. In fact, I am here with Kat. We are a bonded pair: we love each other and want to spend our lives together. Double the fun, double the love!!
We will need a slow introduction to our new home. We should start in one small, quiet room with managed hiding spaces (an extra bedroom or bathroom), and gradually be given access to the home as we settle in and become comfortable in our new surroundings. Our adopter should be prepared to ideally leave us be in the beginning except for feeding and cleaning, and let us solicit interactions as we become comfortable. It takes me time to warm up, but if our adopter respects my space and lets me acclimate at my own pace, I will blossom into the best cat I am meant to be.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: Yes
Dogs: Possibly – no history. Cat-savvy, mellow, and will give Kitty and Cat space
Kids: Possibly – older
This group of parakeets are social, playful and colorful birds, that are looking for their next home! Parakeets are flock birds, so this friend needs to be adopted in a pair, group or go home to another parakeet!
If you haven’t picked out an enclosure yet, we’d love to help! The Association of Avian Veterinarians has a chart on the minimum cage dimensions that are acceptable for housing the birds we commonly see in our adoption center. As a rule of thumb, get the largest cage you can provide—the bigger the better!
A few important recommendations
SIZE: Wire or mesh cages are preferred that are at least 1.5 to 2 times the wingspan of the bird in all directions. When a bird spreads both wings out, there should be enough room so the wings and tail are not touching any cage bars including top or bottom. The bird should be able to easily spin around on a perch without the tail hitting any cage bars including top/bottom of the cage. The cage should be big enough that the bird can fly with ease from the bottom of the cage to the top without the wings touching any cage bars or any other obstacles (like toys).
BAR SPACING: Make sure the spacing of the bars is small enough that your bird cannot escape! Select a finger or fingers that appear to be the same thickness as the bird’s wing. When checking bar spacing, if your finger or fingers (thickness) fits between the cage bar spacing, then the cage bar spacing is not proper for that bird (a bird could get harmed).
We suggest covering wire mesh platforms or bottoms with a layer of newspaper or other solid surface as exposed wire can cause abrasions to feet, as well as possibly catch and break toes and tails
Companion Birds should receive at least a half hour to an hour of interaction time with their human family; such as training, playing, and/or socially interacting.

Edna Mode is just as iconic as you remember–except now she’s an incredible guinea pig! Eddie will start off shy as most guinea pigs do, but once she’s comfortable, she won’t hesitate to show off her spunky personality. Due to her larger than life personality and diva-licious attitude, Edna is not looking for a cagemate, but may enjoy a nextdoor neighbor pig or two! Eddie loves to snuggle with her people and is excited to be a WFH desk buddy or Netflix pal. When she’s not snoozing under her favorite hand towel, Eddie can be found wheeking up a storm and popcorning around her enclosure. Edna is available from foster and is NOT in the shelter, so if you’d like to see about making her a part of your family, email sgoldman@mspca.org or come into the shelter to speak to staff to learn more.
