Meet Cinnamon- this sweet pig is looking for her forever home. She currently lives with her sister Cocoa and enjoys her company. She can be found snuggling with her sister, or sharing a meal with her- as she loves her veggies!
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

Meet Azula! This sweet girl is looking for her forever home with sister Toph! Azula would love a home where she has lots of space to share with her sister. She loves to munch on her Timothy hay, or take a snooze during the day. Azula and her sister are still working on sharing – so they will each need their own items (meaning 1 bowl each, and more than one hiding spot).
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. Guinea pigs need a minimum 6.5 sqft wire cage (30”x36”) for 1-2 guinea pigs but preferably 10.5 sqft (30”x50”) for 2 guinea pigs and a minimum 8 sqft for 3 guinea pigs but preferably 13 sqft (30”x62”). Trust us – she’s even cuter in person! Muffin is an older pony mare who is looking for a companion-only home with her best friend Buggsy.
Muffin was a bit shy and avoidant of touch when we first met her, but she has fallen into a great rhythm with us and is now easy to halter in her stall, lead to her paddock, and catch for turn in. She is an easy keeper and seems quite hardy and healthy! Muffin does well living out 24/7 and stalling overnight with day time turn out. She is super flexible!
We wouldn’t go so far as to say she is a kid-safe pony yet, but it is possible she could get there with some time and patience. She has been straightforward for us to work with and hasn’t offered a bite, kick, or rear. She does require an experienced handler for vet care, but has also improved greatly for this type of handling in the time we’ve had her. She stands well for the farrier and tolerates grooming – we think she’ll enjoy it one day when she finds a family who will dote on her!

More about River:
I have the potential to be a sweet, gentle companion with a very cat-savvy adopter who is willing to put in the extra effort to help me come out of my shell.
Expectations should be kept very low at first, and understand that I am going to need time (weeks to a month or more) to show more of my true personality. Based on my history in my previous home, it should be expected that I will always be a bit skittish with new people, so a low-traffic, quiet home will be best for me. I will be best with the people within my bubble (after time), but I will not be the type of cat to go up and greet visitors.
I should have a very slow introduction to my new home. I should start in one quiet room with managed hiding spaces, and gradually be given more access to the house as I settle in. It cannot be stressed enough that I need to adapt at my own pace, that I am who I am, and I need a patient, understanding person who will not push me or expect me to be anything other than who I am.
Once settled in my home, I am a cat that historically had some instances of becoming overstimulated during times of petting and play. I have never gone out of my way to use teeth or claws, but I do need an experienced adopter able to read cat-body language and know when to stop interaction before it dips into over-arousal.
My adopter can reach out to staff should any questions arise on helping me adjust at home!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: Possibly – no history. Use a very slow introduction
Dogs: Possibly – no history. Cat-savvy. Adopter needs to use a very slow introduction
Kids: Older, quiet, cat-savvy
We’d like to introduce a very special cat named Muffin. He is 1.5 year old, and has a progressive case of FeLV – or Feline Leukemia Virus – which will shorten his lifespan, and we are hoping to find him a loving indoor-only home where he can live out his life. Despite his diagnosis, he can be social and affectionate with those he knows, once he is comfortable in his new space. Muffin would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.
More info on FeLV can be found here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951934
Meet our precious young pup, a gentle soul navigating the world with a tender heart and cautious steps. This adorable dog has faced numerous transitions in their young life, leaving them understandably apprehensive of new experiences and people. They’re seeking a patient and understanding family who can provide plenty of time and space for them to blossom into their true selves. A confident older dog as a role model would be a perfect companion, helping to show that the world isn’t as scary as it seems and instilling a sense of confidence in their uncertain heart. With the right environment and guidance, this fearful pup is sure to transform into a loyal and loving companion.
Dane is an adorable 3 year old Nigerian Dwarf wether. He is very shy, so would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who can handle him and help him warm up to people over time. He deserves a loving home where he can relax and learn that humans are his friends!
Goats are herd animals and need the company of other goats to be healthy and happy. We are looking for adopters who can take at least a pair of goats or have an existing herd at home that they’d like to expand. Interested adopters should have housing for their goats to include proper shelter from the elements and fencing to contain these notorious escape artists. As they say – if it can’t hold water, it can’t hold a goat!
All goats are up to date on their medical needs, but will need routine maintenance moving forward for things like hoof trims and yearly vaccines.
Interested in adding a hilarious and sweet group of goats to your home? Fill out an adoption form by clicking the “Inquire” button and a staff member will reach out to discuss!

Meet Jackson! This little guy is looking for his forever home. Hamsters are crepuscular by nature, meaning they are most active during “dawn” and “dusk” hours! When the sun is up, Jackson is usually deep in sleep, burried under his cozy bedding. When he is awake, Jackson can be found running on his wheel, or updating his tunnel system. Jackson is hoping to get a room upgrade in his new home, which will give him lots of space to burrow and tunnel.
Hamsters need a minimum 12”x12”x20” wire cage or 20 gallon aquarium for 1-3 hamsters (ideally with mesh topper and multiple levels).

Meet young Ash. This is a happy go lucky guy with a lot of energy. He
loves to play and is getting good at walking on a leash. Oh, dont let that
adorable face fool you. This puppy will require a bit more training with
polite greetings and to use that puppy mouth appropriately. Luckily, Ash
loves his snacks and will train for cookies. This good boy is looking to
join a home with kids that will help with training. The best situation
would be if he could live with an older, patient dog that will teach him
the ropes and want to play with a silly puppy. We have no history of what
Ash thinks of cats, so a dog-savvy cat would be a possibility.
Does Ash sound like the boy for you? If so, please head to the Methuen
MSPCA location Tuesday-Sunday between the hours of 12PM-4:30PM!
Meet Rosebud, the delightful blend of Yorkie spunk and Shih Tzu charm!
Are you ready to add a dash of sweetness and a pinch of sass to your life? Look no further than Rosebud! This senior sweetheart may have a few gray hairs, but her heart is as youthful and wiggly as ever.
Rosebud is the queen of cuddles and the master of wiggles. She’s always up for a game of fetch or jaunt in the park, as long as it ends with belly rubs and treats, of course! (although, she doesn’t like to share her treats once she has them but who does?).
Now, let’s talk about Rosebud’s sensitive side. She’s like a delicate flower… well, more like a delicate rose, hence the name! She prefers gentle handling and tender love, but once she trusts you, she’ll shower you with all the kisses and tail wags you could ever want.
So, if you’re ready to welcome this adorable bundle of joy into your home, come meet Rosebud today! She promises to fill your days with laughter, love, and plenty of wiggles.
Meet Sweet Pea, our sensitive and special cat in need of a patient and understanding adopter! Transitioning to a new home can be overwhelming for her so she’s searching for someone willing to give her all the time she needs to settle in comfortably. Sweet Pea’s success hinges on adopters who can read and understand her body language, as meeting new people can be quite daunting for her.
She may find solace in a small bubble once she settles in with you. Think of her as a “pet themselves on you” kind of cat; she should always initiate interactions, and a “petting consent test” could be helpful in ensuring she’s comfortable and in control of the situation. If you’re ready to provide a loving and understanding forever home to this special kitty, come meet Sweet Pea today and embark on a journey of mutual trust and companionship.
Maria is bonded with Princess! This sweet pig is looking for her forever home. She currently lives with her sister Princess and enjoys her company. She can be found snuggling with her sister, or sharing a meal with them – as she loves her veggies!

Joe and Darren are a pair of young boars who still have a lot to learn about the world. Humans are still a little scary for them so they are looking for a patient adopter who will let Joe and Darren settle in at their own pace and not put pressure on them to interact right away. With some time to decompress and A LOT of veggies, these boys will grow into lovely little companions.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.

Meet Rosco, the seasoned veteran of sniffing out good times and enjoying leisurely strolls like a true connoisseur! This Texas senior may have a few miles on his paws, but let me tell ya, he’s still got plenty of pep in his step and a whole lot of love to give.
Now, Rosco’s past is shrouded in mystery, like a cowboy legend whispered around a campfire. But one thing’s for sure: this ol’ boy knows how to enjoy a good stroll under the Texas sun. With him by your side, you’ll be sauntering down the streets like you own the whole darn town!
Sure, Rosco may take his time warming up to you, but trust me, it’s worth the wait! He’s got a heart as big as the Lone Star State itself and enough charm to melt even the toughest cowboy’s heart.
So, if you’re looking for a faithful companion to join you on your Texas-sized adventures, swing on by to speak with our adoption staff about Rosco! He’s the sweetest old timer this side of the Rio Grande, just waiting for patient adopters to show him the ropes.
Pinky is ready to find a new home of her own! We are not sure what this
good girl is mixed with, but we think she will likely be on the larger
side. She is still learning the ropes and will need a patient family to
teach her all the doggie basics like walking on a leash and housetraining.
She could likely go to a home with another dog who could be a role model to
an annoying younger sibling. Pinky has been through lots of transitions in
her short life and is looking for a home that can help her figure out the
world in a safe and fun way!
Do you want to meet Pinky? Visit the MSPCA at Nevins Farm in Methuen
Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Budgerigars, the most common parakeet we see, are native to Australia where they live in massive flocks in the grasslands. Parakeets tend to be docile, gentle, can be easy to tame and can even talk! Despite their small size, these birds can have large vocabularies and can make a wonderful training companion. We recommend that parakeets live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Parakeets can live up to 7-15 years with proper nutrition and care, and can be a loyal companion.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Nests can be provided but should be removed if any females begin to lay eggs. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each parakeet are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the parakeet you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Introducing Mia 2, a reserved yet gentle female pup seeking a patient and understanding forever home. Initially cautious, Mia 2 prefers a bit of distance when encountering new faces, needing time to acclimate to unfamiliar environments. She’s in search of compassionate individuals who appreciate her need for space and are willing to patiently guide her as she gradually opens up to the world around her.
Mia 2 would thrive in a tranquil environment with serene canine companions who respect her boundaries and allow her the time she needs to feel comfortable. With the right nurturing and gentle encouragement, Mia 2 has the potential to blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion, bringing joy to the hearts of those who give her the chance to shine.
