*Please be sure your town regulations allow for roosters on your property before you inquire about adoption!*
Roosters for hire! We have so many good boys hanging out in our bachelor pad waiting for a flock of ladies of their very own. Our roosters are respectful of people and social with other birds – they are ready to do their job of protecting your hens! We have a wide variety of sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Roosters are full of personality and make great additions to any hobby flock!
Meet Egg Roll! Just like her name sake, this sweet lady is a world of delight enclosed in a perfect wrapper. Where your typical egg roll might have a delicious cabbage filling, this Egg Roll is full to the brim with a sweet disposition and a dozen year of finely crafted cat-nap habits. On the outside, this Egg Roll trades the traditional golden fried wrapper for a gorgeous gray and white fur coat.
Egg Roll has FLUTD, a common urinary condition in cats, so a relationship with a vet is a must to make sure this girl is comfortable and feeling her best! And since Egg Roll is a bit overstuffed, a diet to lose some extra weight will do wonders for her health.
If you’re a fan of Egg Roll (who wouldn’t be) and want to add a sweet older feline to your home, come by our Cape shelter 1-4pm Tuesday through Sunday!
We have several gorgeous geese available for adoption! Geese are very social animals, so we’d love to send these birds home in pairs at least (and even better if you already have a flock for them to join)! Geese make great flock protectors and these guys and gals would love a job to do.
Say hello to Bean! She was recently transported from another shelter in Maryland and is ready for her new home. This teeny lady is shy but oh so sweet once she warms up to you!

Meet Albert aka Albie! He and his old pal Walter are the cutest little old ponies we’ve ever met.
Albert leads well and has settled nicely into his routine of turning out for the day and coming in to our cozy barn for the evening. He and Walter share a paddock, a stall, and their meals – they are best buds! Albie’s teeth are quite worn, so he requires a soaked diet, but he is at a healthy weight and seems to be a relatively easy keeper. He does require a little extra medical maintenance due to his advanced age, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 25+ year old distinguished gentleman. Albert is patient for vet and farrier care.
These two little pony geldings would love a quiet spot to retire together. They are both very friendly, curious, and gentle. And they love a good grooming session! We haven’t turned them out with any other horses given their age and specific diet, but they could easily share a fenceline with friends. If you have experience with older ponies, these two guys could be a great match for you!
If you are looking for a bigger dog with a lot of personality, then meet
Hank. This best boy has a good history of living with kids and once he
knows you, you are his forever friend. And as his new best friend, Hank is
hoping you want to play a long game of fetch with tennis balls. Hank walks well
on a leash, knows sit and paw, and would love to learn new things if there
are yummy treats involved. Hank really, really likes his treats. This is
great because Hank will need a patient adopter to help him learn how to
greet people and how to settle on his own. The home will need to be puppy
proofed because no one has told him that he is no longer a puppy. Hank
could possibly live with a well-matched dog friend or a dog savvy cat. In
his previous home, Hank lived successfully with children of
different ages. The kids should be sturdy enough so as not to be knocked
over by this bouncy boy. Finally, this good boy has been through many
changes recently and would do best if his new adopters kept his world small and
let him decompress. Would you like to meet Hank? Visit the MSPCA Methuen
location Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30PM.
Koba is a very handsome, squishy boy who has a good history of living with
kids, dogs and cats. He is crate trained and house trained. And he is
ready to play a long, long game of fetch. Get ready! This sweet guy is a
bit worried and has had a tough time with some of his recent transitions.
He will need some time and space to adjust to his new living arrangements.
Good boy Koba loves people yet needs some help working on how to best ask
for that attention. His ideal adopters will continue his manners
training. At the shelter, Koba has enjoyed playdates with other dogs and
enjoys their company. His play style is a little boisterous so his dog
friends will need to match his energy level.
If you think Koba would be a good fit for your family, come visit him at
the MSPCA in Methuen Tuesday-Sunday 12PM-4:30pm.
Bon bon is a friendly young rabbit looking for his next home! He enjoys snacking on veggies, and can be tolerant for handling.

Buzz is a sweet, young little guinea pig! He would love to go home with other guinea pig friends or his brother Woody!
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by during our open hours!
Meet Luigi! He is looking for his forever home! Luigi is an active and playful guy once he settles into his new home. He loves his dust baths and would stay in his dust bath for days if he was allowed. Luigi is an independent guy and would love to be the only Chinchilla in the room and get all the attention.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. Chinchillas need a minimum 30”x24”x15” wire cage with multiple levels (ideally 6x3x2ft for 1-3 chinchillas); plus access to an additional space outside of their enclosure to exercise and play in for a minimum of 1 hour daily with supervision.

Introducing Hades! This handsome hunk is the life of the party, and he approaches all new endeavors with a healthy dose of enthusiasm. Hades is still perfecting his manners and has been pretty stressed at the shelter, so he’s looking for a patient adopter who is excited to help him learn all the things he needs to know to be his best self. Once he’s settled in, he’s sure to make a great adventure buddy. Hades could potentially live with a dog-savvy cat and older teens!
If Hades sounds like a fit for your home, feel free to stop by our Cape Adoption Center 1PM-4PM Tuesday-Sunday!
Budgerigars, the most common parakeet we see, are native to Australia where they live in massive flocks in the grasslands. Parakeets tend to be docile, gentle, can be easy to tame and can even talk! Despite their small size, these birds can have large vocabularies and can make a wonderful training companion. We recommend that parakeets live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Parakeets can live up to 7-15 years with proper nutrition and care, and can be a loyal companion.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Nests can be provided but should be removed if any females begin to lay eggs. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each parakeet are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the parakeet you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Meet Grasshopper, a giant, goofy, and affectionate 7-month-old puppy who is eager to find his forever home. This playful pup loves to romp around with other dogs and has a heart full of love to give. While he’s still working on his manners, Grasshopper’s enthusiasm for life and his affectionate nature make him a delightful companion for the right family.
Grasshopper is looking for a patient adopter who enjoys training with positive reinforcement and has a good sense of humor. During his transition, keeping his world small within the home is important, using confinement spaces like a crate with an ex-pen around it. Ensure his confinement space is a positive, safe zone where only happy things happen.
If you’re excited about training and ready to offer a loving, patient home, Grasshopper is eager to become your new best friend and bring joy and laughter into your life.

Chihuahua - Smooth Coated / Jack (Parson) Russell Terrier
Cape Cod
Male
3 Years
We’re Rico and Tito, a dynamic duo of chihuahua mix brothers on the hunt for our new home! Life’s been a bit sheltered for us so far, but that just means we’re experts in the art of cuddling and cuteness.
We’ll admit, we’re a tad shy at first, but give us some time and patience, and we’ll shower you with more love and affection than you can handle.
We’re looking for a calm home with no young kids running around – we prefer our quiet time for naps and cozy cuddles. And while we’d love to stick together like peanut butter and jelly, we understand if you can only handle one dollop of chihuahua love at a time.
So, if you’re ready to add a sprinkle of spice and everything nice to your life, swing by and speak to adoption staff about us, Rico and Tito! We promise to fill your days with endless tail wags and adorable antics.

Meet Puffin! He is 8 months old and is ready for his new home! He can be worried in new situations and is looking for someone to give him time and space to feel cozy/comfortable but once he’s opened up, he gets excited easily and loves to play! While he and his adopters get to know each other, his bubble should be kept small and predictable. Additionally, his adopters should be prepared for all things puppy: housetraining, puppy-proofing, and working on fine-tuning his manners using a gentle approach. Any kids in the home should be old enough to give him space while he’s settling in, and to participate in training once he’s more comfortable in the home.
Interested in adopting a dog? Stop by our open hours to speak with our staff!
Curious George out, Curious Crackle in! This sweet boy loves to explore and adores his food, and would prefer to keep all four of his feet on the ground. You might think his nose looks a little weird, but Crackle had to get a little bit of a nose job because he was injured by another rabbit that wasn’t a good match for him in his previous home. Despite his makeover, Crackle is still as loving and curious as ever!
We adopt our rabbits to live indoors only and in exercise pens instead of cages. Rabbits need a minimum 8 sqft of space enclosed by an exercise pen; plus access to an additional 24 sqft of space outside of their enclosure to exercise and play in for a minimum of 4 hours daily with supervision.

Have you ever dreamt of having your very own house hippo? Well dream no further! Chencho is the chunkiest house hippo on the block and is ready to dazzle you with his ample good looks and charm. This large couch potato would make a great companion in a variety of households as long as there are plenty of scritches available for him! He is not a fan of sharing his favorite things, so he would do best in a home without young children. He might be able to live with another dog with plently of management. Chencho seems to have some allergies so it will be important to have a close relationship with a veterinarian to keep him feeling his best. Regardless, he promises to wiggle his way into your heart in no time!
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs.
*Chencho is currently in a foster home so would require a second visit to meet him in person*

Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
