Rose is a sweet and shy lady who is looking for a new home of her own! Rose came to us with a group of dogs that we received from an overcrowded kennel environment in the Texas. We don’t know too much about her history, but we know she is already making progress and coming out of her shell in New England. Rose has been through a lot of transitions in a short period of time and she is looking for a patient family who can help show her the ropes and adjust to a home environment at her own pace. She can be nervous in new situations, but she is already getting more comfortable and asking for snuggles with some of her friends. Rose has been around other dogs and might do well with another social dog to help build her confidence. She might be okay with older kids who can read her body language and respect her boundaries!
If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs.
Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources.
For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in – and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

More about Merami:
I am here at the shelter looking for my new home because I was fearful of the dog in my previous home. I stayed in a foster home while I waited for a dental, and my foster mom said that I am wonderful when approached on my own terms. I love to be pet and brushed, but only when I want them. When I am ready I will come up to you with head bumps, or put my paw on your arm. My adopter should use consent tests with me, and let me initiate contact, or scratches may be the result.
I will need a slow introduction to my new home. After several weeks in foster I became much more snuggly and affectionate, and 90% of the time I would sit on laps when they were available, but even then my cues needed to be watched.
I love sitting by windows to watch birds in a tall cat tree. I`ll occasionally show interest in wand toys and pounce toys, but mostly I like naps and lap time.
My ideal adopter will be very cat-savvy, who will let me initiate every social interaction, and who will read and understand my cat-body language. I am a really lovely cat, but with the right adopter!!
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: No thanks!
Dogs: No thanks!
Kids: Teens and older who are very cat-savvy

Katie, would it also be possible to post to foster? She’s a Texas dog from that hoarding situation. She initially was the more outgoing of the three but has always been a little worried/probably wouldn’t do well in a home with lots of variables (apartment, busy area, etc) to get a break from here.

Say hello to Colin! Colin is young and active. He is a little shy at first but warms up very quickly and will lay down at your feet with some back scratches! He would make a great companion for a first time pig family where he can teach all about finding the best snacks and making the best wallow. Due to his background, Colin would prefer an outdoor home where he can enjoy the run and practicing his natural behaviors such as rooting. If you are interested in learning more about Colin, please submit an adoption inquiry form.

Can’t adopt right now, but want to help animals? If you are in a position to give, please consider making a gift of any size to help us provide essential services to animals in need, at www.mspca.org/nevinsgift.
*Please be sure your town regulations allow for guinea fowl on your property before you inquire about adoption!*
Worried about ticks and flies around your barn this summer? Our guinea fowl can help! We have several male guinea fowl available for adoption and they are experts at eating up any and all insects around your property. They are a bit shy and skittish around people, but get along with each other very nicely and have easily coexisted within a mixed flock of roosters and hens. They have stunning feathers and a very distinct voice when they get all riled up. They are a super entreating bunch who love to zoom around in their outdoor enclosure and perch up high in the sunshine.
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

While we’re getting to know him better, one thing is certain—he’s full of potential and eager to find his place in a loving home. With his whole life ahead of him, Bowgie is ready to embark on adventures, make new friends, and bring endless joy to his future family. If you’re looking for a young, spirited companion to join your household, consider giving Bowgie the chance to become your loyal and cherished furry friend.
Meet Grasshopper, a giant, goofy, and affectionate 7-month-old puppy who is eager to find his forever home. This playful pup loves to romp around with other dogs and has a heart full of love to give. While he’s still working on his manners, Grasshopper’s enthusiasm for life and his affectionate nature make him a delightful companion for the right family.
Grasshopper is looking for a patient adopter who enjoys training with positive reinforcement and has a good sense of humor. During his transition, keeping his world small within the home is important, using confinement spaces like a crate with an ex-pen around it. Ensure his confinement space is a positive, safe zone where only happy things happen.
If you’re excited about training and ready to offer a loving, patient home, Grasshopper is eager to become your new best friend and bring joy and laughter into your life.

If you are looking for the cutest pint size companion Steel might be the guy for you!
