Panzer is the first dog to be protected from the threat of domestic violence under the new law, that took effect in October 2012, which allows judges to include animals in restraining orders, thereby protecting the whole family. Read more
comprehensive Animal control law now in effect
The animal control law is in place, which means that municipalities cannot discriminate based on dog breed, lost animals must be scanned for microchips to determine if they have a home, animal control officers will need to be trained, only humane methods of euthansia are allowed - along with many other positive changes that offer more benefits for animals in Massachusetts than any other single piece of legislation. conibear trap kills andrew
Conibears and other body gripping traps are restricted in MA because they are indiscriminate, and can catch and kill non-target animals, including wildlife and domestic animals like Andrew. Join the Animal Action Team to help us fight expanded trapping in MA.
ask your representative to support the Antifreeze bill
S. 88 would update Massachusetts law to require the addition of a bittering agent to all containers of antifreeze to protect animals from poisoning. There are just a couple weeks left to get S. 88 passed in the House. Read more and take action.
don't forget that you can HELP ANIMALS AT TAX TIME
The animal control law will be funded by income tax donations to the Homeless Animal Prevention and Care Fund. Donations will be used for spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, as well as training of animal control officers. Read more
