Meet Babe! This lovable pig is ready to find his special home. Babe loves spending time laying around his pen, laying in his wallow on hot days, or munching on snacks. Given his lazier personality, Babe needs to have his diet carefully monitored. He takes a while to warm up to new people but once he does, he likes to spend time with his people. Babe would love to find a home where he can take his time settling in and not rushing into new situations. His new home would also help him continue his weight loss journey so he can live a healthy life. If you think Babe would be a good fit for your family, submit an adoption inquiry!
Finches have a wonderful voice, and can be a joy to watch, but tend not to be a “hands on” bird. Native to Australia, finches can live up to 10 years with proper nutrition and care. We recommend that finches live in pairs or groups whenever possible.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. As a result of finches being a “hands off” bird they tend to spend much of their lives inside their cage, so we heavily recommend investing in a very spacious cage with lots of enrichment.
The needs of each finch are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the finch you are interested in, please give us a call! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.
* If you think you are a good fit, stop by Tues-Sun from 1-4 during our open hours! For more information on our adoption process, please visit www.mspca.org/capeadoptionprocess .

Meet Violet! This stunning mare is ready for her next chapter and you won’t want to miss out on this one! At 8 years old Violet has been through a lot in her short life, originally coming to a previous owner from an auction. We were never able to trace her history, so much of her backstory remains a mystery but it certainly isn’t a mystery why this girl is staff and volunteer favorite at Nevins! Violet is as sweet and honest as they come and is truly beloved by both her human and horse friends alike.
Since coming to Nevins Violet has had some mild lameness that was pretty tricky to pin point. After a few cycles of specialty shoes on her front feet, she is ready to get back into work! She had previously been lunged in tack before her bout of lameness and is now getting back into that routine. She takes everything in stride and really looks to please. Because she is still green her ideal adopter would have experience bringing along a young horse or will work with a trainer to do so.
She can be a bit nervous about certain things such as blanketing and getting her feet done so patience and understanding is a must to help this good girl blossom into the best horse she can be! She is up to date on all vet and farrier care but adopters should have a good relationship with their vet and farrier to make sure this girl stays on the right track.
Violet is a great companion to her horse friends and hasn’t met one she hasn’t liked! She has been turning out most regularly with another mare but doesn’t mind if you take her away for a little bit – she’s happy to stay with her hay! Violet self-loads and trailers like a dream…do we need to say more?? If you think Violet is a good match for you please click the inquire button above and fill out an inquiry for a horse or farm animal.

Bay Coast is a sweet and affectionate Arabian mare who is ready to find her perfect home! We don’t know much about her history, but she has settled in remarkably well to her new life at Nevins. She is easy to halter and lead out to her paddock and stands nicely for vet care. She does need a little bit of patience and practice with the farrier, but this good girl truly just wants to please. We are not sure if Bay Coast ever had a riding career and are looking for a companion-only home for her at this time. She has started to work on some basic ground work and we will update as we learn more about her!
Bay Coast loves to be doted on and will seek you out to demand attention and scratches if you are in her paddock or stall with her. Picking up her feet is still a work in progress but she will let you brush her till your hands fall off if she has it her way!
Bay Coast is a hardy girl who has easily lived outside 24/7 with access to a run-in shed as well as come into a stall at night with day turnout. She has been turned out with multiple different groups of mares without issue – in fact she seems to keep to herself or spend most of her day eating hay. That being said she would really like the companionship of other horses and can struggle when some of her closer friends are taken from her group.
Bay Coast is up to date on all vet an farrier care and is ready to find her person! If that might be you please click the inquire button above and fill out an inquiry for a horse or farm animal.

Meet Walter! He and his old pal Albert are the cutest little old ponies we’ve ever met.
Walter leads well and has settled nicely into his routine of turning out for the day and coming in to our cozy barn for the evening. He and Albert share a paddock, a stall, and their meals – they are best buds! Walter’s teeth are quite worn, so he requires a soaked diet, but he is at a healthy weight and seems to be a relatively easy keeper. He does require a little extra medical maintenance due to his advanced age, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 25+ year old distinguished gentleman. Walter is patient for vet care, but has a hard time standing for the farrier so will need some extra support on that front.
These two little pony geldings would love a quiet spot to retire together. They are both very friendly, curious, and gentle. And they love a good grooming session! We haven’t turned them out with any other horses given their age and specific diet, but they could easily share a fenceline with friends. If you have experience with older ponies, these two guys could be a great match for you!
We recommend providing a safe indoor enclosure that allows a rabbit to stretch their legs and move around. Joe and Darren are a pair of young boars who still have a lot to learn about the world. Humans are still a little scary for them so they are looking for a patient adopter who will let Joe and Darren settle in at their own pace and not put pressure on them to interact right away. With some time to decompress and A LOT of veggies, these boys will grow into lovely little companions.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. Guinea pigs need a minimum 6.5 sqft wire cage (30”x36”) for 1-2 guinea pigs but preferably 10.5 sqft (30”x50”) for 2 guinea pigs and a minimum 8 sqft for 3 guinea pigs but preferably 13 sqft (30”x62”). Cages must have a solid bottom and more room is always encouraged!

Vik is a very social young rat, who enoys hanging out on shoulders!
Rats are nocturnal, highly social and extremely intelligent animals! Due to the highly social nature of rats we prefer to match them with homes with existing rats, or to adopters looking to take home two or more rats. Rats can be food driven (and great foragers!) making them excellent animals to train. We always recommend the use of positive reinforcement training with your animals, and are happy to provide more information on this topic.
We recommend providing a safe indoor enclosure that allows the rat plenty of space to exercise. The minimum cage size should be 2’x2.5’x2’, with good ventilation (no glass enclosures) and must have a solid base. Preferably the shelter includes multiple levels, with appropriate use of linens or paper bedding and lots of rat appropriate toys. Rats should never be housed with other animals, each species should always have its own housing.
The needs of each rat are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the rat you are interested in, please let us know in your inquiry! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Meet Fluffy, who may start off a bit shy but quickly reveals a heart of gold. This gentle guy simply needs a patient companion who is willing to move at his pace as he adjusts to his new surroundings. With a little time and understanding, he will become a devoted companion.
It’s important to note that he is FIV positive, which means he should be the only cat in the home unless his potential feline friend also shares this condition. Despite this, he’s just as deserving of love and affection as any other cat, and he’ll repay your kindness tenfold with his loyalty and companionship. If you’re ready to open your heart to this special kitty, come meet him today!

Her laid-back attitude makes her the ideal companion for relaxed afternoons and lazy weekends.
But don’t let her chilled-out vibe fool you—Sassie is also a big fan of attention! She craves affection and isn’t shy about letting you know it. When she’s in the mood for pets, she’ll happily rub herself against your legs until she gets the love and attention she deserves.
