Eight-Week-Old Kitten Set on Fire MSPCA-WNE Caring for Stray Nicholas; Investigators Offer $1,500 Reward
Nicholas, named after St. Nick, was rescued by a Good Samaritan who found him lying in the road in pain with smoke rising from his fur. He was immediately brought to the MSPCA-Western New England Animal Care and Adoption Center for medical treatment. Nicholas is suffering from burns to his face, including his ears and tongue. Fur across his body was singed and his whiskers have been burned off. “Nicholas is recovering from one of the most horrific acts of animal cruelty that we have seen,” said MSPCA Law Enforcement officer Christine Allenberg. “He is lucky to be alive and we would like to thank the people responsible for his rescue. We urge anyone with information regarding Nicholas’ case to come forward.”Community members wishing to provide information in Nicholas’ investigation should contact the MSPCA-WNE Law Enforcement department at (413) 750-7661 or call 1-800-628-5808. Unfortunately, Nicholas’ experience is not unique to animals arriving at the MSPCA in need of help, and the organization works hard to care for them and find them good homes. Anyone interested in adopting Nicholas may contact the MSPCA-WNE Animal Care and Adoption Center to find out when he will be healed and ready for a forever home (interested adopters may call 413-736-2992 in the upcoming weeks to check on his status). For those interested in contributing to help cover the care of Nicholas and other animals like him through the MSPCA-WNE’s General Fund, donations are being accepted online by clicking here or can be mailed to Nicholas, MSPCA-WNE General Fund, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105. |
